Welcome
Art is a subject which weaves through all aspects of life, from the design of everyday objects, creative pieces of home decoration to imaginative and meaningful sculptures and paintings. Here at Bishop Gore’s Art department, we strive to increase our pupils’ understanding of these wide areas of study by giving them the opportunity to learn skills in painting and drawing, sculpture, textile design and ICT to name but a few.
We bring in practising artists and designers to talk to classes about art and the world of work and organise trips and workshops to local and national specialised studios and galleries, where they come across both traditional and contemporary forms of art.
We are keen to develop the strengths of our pupils and therefore deliver our lessons in a flexible way, always aiming to meet the needs of all.
We are passionate about Art and its importance to the creativity of our pupils but also to their general development.
We are proud that many of our former students return to Bishop Gore, having followed a career path in Art, to talk to our pupils about their work.
At the last inspection, ALL key stages were deemed good, with a sound curriculum delivered by ‘a team of effective specialists’.
