Welcome to our prospectus. I hope the information contained in this will give you an insight into our school and would encourage you to follow up what you read here with a visit to the school, there is nothing like seeing a school in action to get a real flavour about what it is like!
I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Bishop Gore School, a position I have held since September 2007. It really is a
vibrant learning community, one which is providing the highest quality of education to our pupils across the age rage, from 11 -19. We are a school steeped in history, being originally founded over 400 years ago as Swansea Grammar School. We have occupied our present site for over fifty years and I would say that it has to be one of the most outstanding locations for a secondary school, with grounds backing on to Singleton Park and the University and views over Swansea Bay. The rich background of our school helps us to formulate our mission which is to deliver learning opportunities which combine tradition and values with all that is best of the twenty first century.
At Bishop Gore we place a strong emphasis on standards in all that we do as a school community. All pupils can expect the highest standard of learning opportunities whilst pupils need to respond with high standards as part of the community. Standards matter, not just in terms of results but in all that we do. The expectation is that all members of the Bishop Gore community work to achieve these high standards.
At Bishop Gore we work hard to ensure that all of our pupils get a rounded experience. Life outside the classroom is vibrant; we passionately believe that school life is about providing as many opportunities as possible outside the formal learning environment. Our range of additional opportunities are rich and varied, for example, we are renowned for our high quality performing arts and sporting activities and these continue to be a strong feature of our provision. Please feel free to contact me at the school should you wish to discuss anything about life at Bishop Gore or indeed, arrange to visit us to see first hand what I believe to be a truly inspirational place to learn and work.
