There are many opportunities for pupils to take part in competitions and challenges. The team led by Mr Thornton in the Formula 1 challenge, came first for innovation in the Wales final, having designed the best racing car.
In the past we have had pupils reaching the finals of the Wales Innovation Awards at KS4 and KS5. Every year there are opportunities for budding engineers in Year 9 to compete against other Swansea schools in the Engineering Challenge at Swansea University, the Celtic Manor and at Swansea College where pupils have taken part in Engineering Days.
For the past three years we have run a trip to the Clothes Show Live at Birmingham’s NEC to see first-hand the new cutting edge designs from the colleges of fashion, as well as being able to view the fantastic catwalk shows.
Last year we had a trip to Bristol Zoo as part of the Moving Storybooks project in Year 7.
Catering pupils make regular visits to catering establishments to experience the catering industry ‘in action’.
